After 57 years of marriage, Dolly Parton reveals how she and her husband, Carl Dean, maintain the spark.
Dolly Parton is famous for her glammed-up public persona, and the singer says she likes to get a little gussied up at home, too, even when it’s just her and her husband of 57 years, Carl Dean.
“I like to dress up for Carl,” Parton admits during a 2022 interview.
“Every day, I put on some makeup and fix my hair because I think, ‘Well, the whole world sees me all dressed up out here. I’m not just going to go home and flop on him.’”
Parton and Dean have been married for almost 60 years and have witnessed just about every aspect of one another.
According to the singer, she works as hard on her beauty for her benefit as her husband’s. She says, “He would love me either way, but I must look the best I can.”
When asked if that’s the secret to keeping her marriage exciting after all these years, Parton responds, “Well, I think it helps!” adding, “Nobody wants to make out with a slouch. I suppose keeping things interesting and spicy helps.”
In November, the country queen and recent inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will release her debut rock album, Rock Star, which features a who’s who of the genre as contributors.
Parton is known for keeping things “spicy” in her career. The first track from that album, “World on Fire,” was introduced by the legend while she and Garth Brooks were co-hosting the 2023 ACM Awards.
