At 77, Dolly Parton has confirmed the rumors are true. No matter your opinion of Dolly, this is a bold move, and we extend our best wishes to her.
Dolly Parton has achieved nearly everything possible in the music industry, yet the iconic country star continues to find new ways to challenge herself.
Reports indicate that fans worldwide are thrilled by the news that Dolly is set to release her first-ever rock album.
You may recall that the 77-year-old legend was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, a milestone she initially declined because she felt she hadn’t “earned the right.”
However, Dolly later accepted the honor and promised to create a rock album to solidify her place. We now have a release date!
Initially hesitant about her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Dolly felt her primarily country-focused career might not align with the rock genre.
But the public spoke, and voters decided she deserved a spot in the Hall. Inducted in November 2022, Dolly immediately set out to prove she belonged.
Her upcoming rock album, aptly titled Rockstar, is set for release on November 17. The album will feature 30 tracks, including nine original songs and 21 collaborations with other artists.
Among the collaborations, fans can look forward to new versions of classics like “Every Breath You Take” with Sting and “Wrecking Ball” featuring Miley Cyrus, Dolly’s goddaughter.
Other legendary artists set to appear on the album include Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, and Steven Tyler.
Reflecting on her Hall of Fame induction, Dolly shared on The View: “I just didn’t feel like I had earned it, but they explained to me why I was in it, so I said, ‘Well, if you insist on giving it to me, I’ll take it.’
But if I’m gonna be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I’m gonna have to do something to earn it.”
