Bondi Beach Hero Breaks His Silence and Shares a Heartbreaking Update
The man praised around the world for stopping one of the gunmen at Bondi Beach has finally spoken from his hospital bed, and his message is heartbreaking.
Ahmed al-Ahmed, a 43-year-old father of two, was shot several times while tackling and disarming a shooter during the Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach on December 14, 2025.
His brave actions helped stop the attack and saved many lives.
Video from the scene shows Ahmed running through the chaos, taking cover behind cars, and then jumping on the gunman and grabbing his weapon.
His courage has been recognised by leaders across Australia, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese — and by people all around the world.
But now, Ahmed’s recovery is turning out to be harder than first thought.
Doctors say he has serious injuries to his arm, shoulder, and hand, and one bullet is still in his back.

His family fears he may lose movement in his arm because of possible nerve damage.
From the hospital, Ahmed shared a short message, thanking people for their prayers and saying he hopes to heal.

Friends say he is trying to stay strong, but the pain and stress are taking a heavy toll on him.
A GoFundMe page has raised millions of dollars to support him and his young daughters.
His community has called him a hero, and many say his actions show true bravery — risking his own life to protect others he didn’t even know.

The Bondi Beach attack has been called one of the worst in Australia in decades, and the nation is still mourning.
But in the middle of tragedy, Ahmed’s act of courage has given many people hope — and a reminder that even in dark moments, ordinary people can do extraordinary things.
