Caregiver Grants Dying Woman’s Final Wish with Emotional Surprise
As Maria spent her final days in a care facility in Austinburg, Ohio, she longed for the music that had defined her life as a piano teacher and singer.
Her last wish was to hear “How Great Thou Art,” a hymn she cherished.
To her surprise, one of her former students, Joshua Woodard, now a caregiver at the facility, was there to fulfill her request.
Joshua had been Maria’s student since he was nine, and with a heartfelt performance, he sang the hymn for her.
Maria’s sister-in-law captured the emotional moment, and Marti Adkins Redmond, a hospice worker, praised Joshua for his special bond with Maria, saying:
“Hospice workers are angels, but this hospice aide is special.”
It was a beautiful, final connection between teacher and student, leaving Maria with a peaceful, musical farewell.
