Carolina Shag Legends Jackie McGee and Charlie Womble Prove Great Dancers Never Lose the Groove

Few dancers have left a mark on Carolina Shag like Jackie McGee and Charlie Womble.

Dancing competitively together since 1981, the married couple built one of the most dominant legacies in the sport’s history.

Over the years, they achieved a remarkable 12-year undefeated streak across more than 300 competitions and won nine of the first ten National Shag Dance Championships.

Their impact was so profound that the competition’s trophy was eventually redesigned in their likeness.

By 2013, both were in their sixties, yet their passion and precision remained unmistakable.

On July 13, they took the floor at the ShagAtlanta ACSC Summer Workshop, where cheers filled the room before they even danced.

Their exhibition performance proved what fans already knew — great dancers don’t lose their rhythm with age.

With smooth footwork, effortless timing, and undeniable chemistry, McGee and Womble reminded everyone why they remain true legends of the Carolina Shag.
