Dan Bongino’s Remarks Resurface Ahead of FBI Deputy Director Appointment
Just days before former President Donald Trump appointed Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) as deputy director of the FBI, conservative commentator Dan Bongino made striking remarks on his widely followed podcast, which have since gone viral.
Bongino opened a segment by questioning Schiff’s role in the now-debunked Russian collusion narrative.
“What’s going on with Adam Schiff?” Bongino asked his audience. “I want you to take another look at the Russia collusion hoax today.”
Reflecting on the years-long controversy, Bongino was resolute: “I’m going to be honest with you—I don’t want to move on.”
He went on to highlight the serious implications of the matter, stating, “We had the FBI, the Department of Justice, congressional officials, foreign governments, and intelligence operatives fabricating a narrative—one that could have had long-term consequences for international relations, especially with a nuclear power. That’s a major issue.”
Bongino then issued a cryptic warning, urging his listeners to pay close attention in the coming days. “Listen to me—this is going to be very important,” he said, possibly hinting at his impending role within the FBI.
“This isn’t going away. We need to understand what went wrong. Not for Republicans, not for Libertarians, but for every American citizen,” Bongino insisted.
“You can’t manipulate the justice system, invent a story, and then pass it off as truth to influence electoral politics.”
Bongino then pointed the finger at Schiff, saying, “Who orchestrated this? Adam Schiff. And no, I’m not letting this go.”
Schiff’s Preemptive Pardon Raises Questions
Amid this controversy, Schiff received a preemptive pardon from former President Joe Biden for his role on the Democratic-led Jan. 6 Commission. While Schiff called the pardon “unnecessary” and “unwise,” he did not reject it outright.
“I continue to believe that granting pardons to a committee that upheld the law was unnecessary and sets a dangerous precedent,” Schiff stated. “However, I understand why President Biden felt it was necessary given the ongoing threats from Donald Trump and some of his law enforcement appointees.”
A report from The Hill noted that these “full and unconditional” pardons cover all potential offenses related to the committee’s activities. However, it remains unclear whether the pardon also shields Schiff from any possible legal consequences tied to his persistent claims that Trump was compromised by Russia.
The Jan. 6 Committee, chaired by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) with former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) as vice chair, included several lawmakers: Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), Elaine Luria (D-Va.), Stephanie Murphy (D-Fla.), Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.), and Jamie Raskin (D-Md.).
In a joint statement, Thompson and Cheney emphasized that the pardons were not an admission of wrongdoing but rather a safeguard against politically motivated prosecutions.
“These are extraordinary times when public servants require pardons not for committing crimes, but for exposing the truth,” their statement read.
“We stood firm in our duty to reveal a criminal attempt to overturn the will of the voters after the 2020 election, including inciting a violent insurrection to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power.”
As the debate over Schiff’s past statements and actions intensifies, Bongino’s viral comments continue to fuel speculation about the implications of his new role in the FBI.
