DOGE Aids in Arrest of Two Ukrainians for Alleged Illegal Voting in 2024 Election
Federal authorities have arrested two Ukrainian nationals accused of illegally voting in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
The arrests mark the first public case where the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a relatively new agency launched under President Trump, played a direct role in election-related enforcement.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the individuals were detained in a joint operation involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and DOGE.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the arrests via social media, stating, “Under President Donald Trump, if you come to our country and break our laws, you will face the consequences.”
DOGE, created by executive order in January 2025, was initially tasked with streamlining government spending and reducing bureaucratic inefficiencies.
However, its scope has since expanded to include oversight of immigration practices and support in enforcing federal election regulations.
The Ukrainian nationals reportedly voted unlawfully in the 2024 election, a federal offense that has reignited debate over voter integrity and immigration enforcement.
This incident is seen as a high-profile win for DOGE, which continues to play a growing role in domestic policy enforcement under Trump’s second term.
President Trump has made immigration enforcement and election security central pillars of his administration.
Since returning to office, the administration claims to have deported more than 139,000 individuals, including through measures such as deploying troops to non-cooperative sanctuary cities and invoking rarely used legislation like the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
In addition to enforcement, DOGE has drawn attention for its investigative efforts into alleged government corruption.
Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, a key figure in the formation of DOGE, recently questioned how elected officials accumulate significant personal wealth on public salaries, suggesting the agency will audit such financial activity.
Musk also pointed out potential loopholes in the oversight of government funding, particularly where taxpayer dollars are funneled to NGOs that operate outside standard U.S. transparency laws.
“There’s a massive amount of corruption, but it’s circuitous,” he noted, suggesting DOGE aims to uncover and address misuse of federal funds.
As political tensions remain high, this case is likely to fuel ongoing national discussions about immigration, election integrity, and accountability in public office.
