Super Bowl fans slam Andra Day’s ‘Black National Anthem’

Social media erupted with divided opinions over the performance of ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing’ at Super Bowl LVIII. While many praised Andra Day’s rendition, others objected to the inclusion of the song altogether. Recognized as the ‘Black national anthem’ by the NAACP, the tradition of performing ‘Lift Every Voice’ at the Super Bowl dates back to Super Bowl LV in the 2020 season. However, conservative voices on social media, including political analysts and Republican politicians like Florida representative Matt Gaetz, expressed dissatisfaction, with some vowing to boycott the game. Commentator Megyn Kelly argued, ‘The so-called Black National Anthem does not belong at the Super Bowl. We already have a National Anthem, and it includes EVERYONE.’
