Heartbreaking News: Beloved ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Legend Has Passed Away

Beloved ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Judge Len Goodman Passes Away at 78

The world of dance has lost an icon as Len Goodman, the longtime judge on “Dancing With the Stars,” passed away at the age of 78.

Goodman, who had battled bone cancer, died peacefully on Saturday in a hospice in Kent, southern England, surrounded by family.

Goodman became a household name in 2004 as the head judge of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, the British version of Dancing With the Stars.

He remained a key figure on the show until his departure in 2016, after which Shirley Ballas took over his role.

In the U.S., he was a central judge on Dancing With the Stars from 2005 to 2018, alongside Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

Born in London in 1944, Goodman took up dancing at the age of 19 and quickly rose through the ranks as a professional ballroom dancer.

Beyond TV, he was the founder of the Goodman Dance Academy in Kent and authored several books, including his autobiography Better Late Than Never: From Barrow Boy to Ballroom.

Tributes have poured in from colleagues and fans alike. BBC director-general Tim Davie remembered Goodman as a “wonderful, warm entertainer who was beloved by millions,” adding that his charm and skill made Strictly Come Dancing a massive hit.

Bruno Tonioli, a fellow judge, posted a heartfelt tribute calling Goodman a “ballroom legend” and a “perfect 10,” cherishing their 19 years of partnership.

Goodman’s legacy will live on in the dance community and through his many contributions to television and the arts.

His warmth, humor, and expertise will be missed by viewers, friends, and family alike.
