Few expected Robert Downey Jr. – best known as Marvel’s Iron Man, to nearly steal the spotlight from Sting himself.
But during the legendary musician’s 60th birthday concert in 2011, Downey Jr. did exactly that, captivating the audience with a soulful performance of a Police classic.
Fans were left in awe, flooding social media with comments like, “Iron Man can sing like THAT?”
Downey Jr.’s friendship with Sting goes back decades. The two first met when Downey, then in his mid-20s and chasing a music dream, boldly tried to hand Sting a demo tape after a concert.
Sting was taken by surprise, though his wife, Trudy Styler, instantly recognized the young actor from Less Than Zero and warmly welcomed him.
