Lip Reader Claims to Reveal Trump and Obama’s Exchange

During the state funeral of former President Jimmy Carter, an unexpected moment between Donald Trump and Barack Obama quickly drew public attention.

The two leaders were seen sharing a lighthearted exchange, sparking curiosity about what was said.

According to The Daily Mail, professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman analyzed the footage and suggested that Trump and Obama may have been arranging a private conversation.

Freeman claimed Trump leaned in and said it was important they meet “today” in a “quiet place” to “deal with something.”

Obama reportedly responded: “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine… listen to me, it’s a chore, a chore.”

Trump allegedly replied: “Yeah, right. I can’t think of anything that’s a chore.”

The lip reader went on to interpret further dialogue, suggesting Obama mentioned potential obstacles and Trump responded by stressing the need for privacy, saying,

“Sometimes this is a matter of importance, and we need to do this outside so that we can deal with it, certainly, today.”

While the exact meaning of the conversation remains unclear, both men appeared friendly and even laughed at times—something many viewers did not expect.

Later, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Trump directly about the moment.

Trump responded with a smile, saying:

“It did look very friendly. Boy, they look like two people that like each other, and we probably do. We have a little different philosophies, right? But I think we probably do.”

A Funeral Full of Notable Moments

The funeral, held at the Washington National Cathedral, was attended by all living U.S. presidents.

While Carter was honored for his long life of service, several interactions between political figures became talking points.

Vice President Kamala Harris briefly interrupted the conversation by sitting in front of Trump and Obama, though the two quickly resumed chatting.

Karen Pence, wife of former Vice President Mike Pence, stirred controversy by not shaking hands with Melania Trump, a moment that set off debates online.
