Local Leaders Call for Action to Improve Roosevelt Avenue
Leaders in Queens, New York, are speaking up about ongoing safety concerns along Roosevelt Avenue.
Residents want stronger support to make the neighborhood safer and more welcoming for families.
The Restore Roosevelt Avenue Coalition, a local community group, has organized several peaceful rallies to raise awareness about issues affecting women and families in the area.
Some buildings operate quietly as businesses, but community members say that certain activities outside make them worried about their neighborhood.
“We want our streets to feel safe for everyone,” said Rosa Sanchez, spokesperson for the coalition.
“Families should be able to walk outside without worrying, and everyone deserves to feel protected in their community.”
Local authorities have been involved and continue to monitor the situation.
The coalition says more support from federal agencies could help improve safety and community well-being.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has asked for funding to help nonprofits that provide support and resources to people in the area.
Her office is also working with local teams to make sure residents get the help they need.
The community hopes that with collaboration between local groups and officials, Roosevelt Avenue will become a friendlier, safer, and more welcoming place for all families.
“It’s about creating a neighborhood where everyone feels secure and cared for,” Rosa Sanchez added.
