Meghan Markle Shares Heartwarming Moment with Daughter Lilibet and Prince Harry
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, shared a touching moment with her daughter, Princess Lilibet, during the family’s first overseas trip after stepping back from royal duties.
While on a three-day visit to Nigeria in May, Meghan and Prince Harry took time to engage with students at Lightway Academy.
In a heartwarming interaction with a group of kindergarteners, Meghan shared a sweet story about Lilibet.
“Our daughter, Lili, is much smaller than you,” Meghan told the children, as reported by People. Lilibet, who is approaching her third birthday, had a moment that deeply moved her mother. “A few weeks ago, she looked at me and said, ‘Mama, I see myself in you.’”
Meghan, reflecting on the innocence of her daughter’s words, shared how they resonated with her.
“Though she was speaking literally,” Meghan explained, “I couldn’t help but feel the deeper meaning in her words. It made me think, ‘Yes, I see myself in you, and you see yourself in me.’”
Addressing the young students while seated next to Prince Harry, Meghan added, “As I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well.”
During their time with the children, Meghan and Harry participated in singing, dancing, and games.
Meghan revealed that music and movement are a favorite of Lilibet, saying, “That’s her favorite class – maybe it’s all the jumping around!”
Though the couple values their privacy, they do occasionally share insights into their family life. Earlier this year, Prince Harry shared in an interview on Good Morning America that their two children, Lilibet and 5-year-old Prince Archie, are thriving.
“The kids are doing great,” Harry said. “They’re growing up so fast and they both have such an incredible sense of humor.
They keep us laughing every day.”
He added, “I’m so grateful to be their father.”
