Michelle Obama Addresses Divorce Rumors and Opens Up on New Podcast

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has spoken out to put an end to rumors surrounding her marriage to former President Barack Obama.

In the debut episode of her new podcast IMO, which she co-hosts with her brother Craig Robinson, Michelle candidly discussed marriage, family, and life after the White House.

“I couldn’t have gotten through eight years in the White House without my big brother,” she shared, reflecting on the challenges of her role as First Lady from 2009 to 2017.

She added that being married to a U.S. president was “something none of us really banked on,” noting Barack’s ambition and intelligence, but also the unexpected demands that came with public life.

The podcast will tackle questions from listeners on topics such as marriage, raising children, navigating friendships, and even dating.

Both Michelle and Craig also plan to address misconceptions and rumors — including speculation about the Obamas’ marriage.

Michelle clarified that prioritizing herself in this stage of life, especially as an “empty nester,” has sometimes been misinterpreted.

“When women choose to focus on themselves, people often assume the worst,” she explained. “For me, it simply means embracing freedom and making choices that are truly mine.”

Craig Robinson, who is currently married to Kelly McCrum Robinson, will also share his personal experiences, including his divorce from his first wife.

The launch of IMO follows Michelle’s previous success with The Michelle Obama Podcast, which featured high-profile guests like Tyler Perry.

The new show will continue in the same spirit, with appearances from actors and public figures including Seth Rogen and Keke Palmer.

Rumors of a separation between the Obamas gained attention earlier this year, even sparking false claims that Barack Obama was linked to Friends star Jennifer Aniston.

The actress later denied the speculation during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, clarifying she had only met the former president once.

In a recent conversation on Sophia Bush’s Work in Progress podcast, Michelle described life after her daughters, Malia and Sasha, left home as “liberating,” saying: “For the first time in my life, all of my choices are for me.”

By addressing these rumors directly, Michelle Obama has reminded listeners that speculation often overshadows the truth — and that her marriage remains strong.
