New Poll Reveals What Americans Really Think About Donald Trump’s Leadership

Despite Donald Trump’s claims that his second term has brought “progress and strength,” a new national poll suggests that public sentiment tells a different story.
According to a CNN/SSRS survey conducted from October 27 to 30 among 1,245 adults, Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 37%, down from 47% in February, one of the lowest points since early 2021.
The survey reveals that 63% of Americans now disapprove of his performance, with most citing economic struggles, rising costs, and political instability as major concerns.
Nearly 68% of respondents said the country is heading in the wrong direction, pointing to inflation and the high cost of living as top issues affecting their daily lives.
Interestingly, only 10% identified immigration — one of Trump’s central talking points — as the nation’s biggest problem, while 26% expressed the most concern over the state of U.S. democracy.
On the economy, 61% believe Trump’s policies have made things worse, and 56% feel he has weakened America’s international reputation.
Concerns over presidential authority are also growing, with 61% saying Trump has “gone too far” in exercising power through executive actions and unilateral decisions.
This sentiment could strongly influence the upcoming midterm elections — 41% of voters say they plan to vote in opposition to Trump’s influence, compared to 21% who say they’ll vote in support.
Meanwhile, Trump has dismissed the poll as “fake news,” insisting on Truth Social that he remains highly popular and that “biased polls” are distorting public opinion.
Still, as the nation faces economic challenges, political division, and an ongoing government standoff, this latest poll may signal a deeper fatigue among Americans, one that could shape the country’s political future in unexpected ways.
