New Proposal Seeks to Extend Presidential Term Limit to Three Terms

A new legislative proposal could change the future of U.S. presidential terms, potentially allowing former President Donald Trump to serve until 2032.

Congressman Andy Ogles has introduced a House Joint Resolution aimed at amending the U.S. Constitution to permit a president to serve up to three terms instead of the current two-term limit set by the 22nd Amendment.

The amendment, ratified in 1951, was established after Franklin D. Roosevelt’s historic four-term presidency.

Ogles argues that extending the limit is necessary to ensure strong leadership and policy continuity.

“President Trump’s leadership stands in stark contrast to the challenges Americans have faced in recent years,” he stated.

“This amendment would provide the time needed to restore America to its full potential.”

For this proposal to become law, it would require a two-thirds majority vote in both the House and Senate, followed by ratification from at least 38 of the 50 U.S. states.

While the resolution has sparked intense debate, it highlights an ongoing discussion about executive power and term limits in the U.S.
