Pam Bondi Takes on Adam Schiff During Heated Confirmation Hearing

Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi delivered a fiery performance during her confirmation hearing, sparring with Sen.

Adam Schiff (D-CA) over issues ranging from presidential pardons to his prior censure by Congress.

What began as a routine hearing quickly turned into a tense exchange, showcasing Bondi’s willingness to push back against her critics.

The former Florida Attorney General faced pointed questions from Schiff, who grilled her on how she would approach reviewing presidential pardons.

“Will your advice to the President be: ‘No blanket pardons. Each case must be reviewed individually’?” Schiff asked.

Bondi stood her ground, replying, “Senator, I have not reviewed any files at this time. If confirmed, I will ensure that each case is carefully evaluated, including ongoing investigations.”

The conversation escalated as Schiff questioned Bondi’s ability to handle a large caseload immediately upon taking office.

“Will you be able to review hundreds of cases on day one?” Schiff pressed. Bondi replied firmly, “I will review every case assigned to me with diligence. I will not mislead this body or you.”

The hearing took a dramatic turn when Bondi referenced Schiff’s 2023 congressional censure, saying, “Senator, you were censured for reckless comments, and this line of questioning mirrors that behavior.” Schiff’s reaction made it clear the remark had struck a nerve.

Allegations Against Liz Cheney Enter the Spotlight

The exchange grew even more intense when Schiff shifted the focus to former Rep. Liz Cheney, who is facing allegations of witness tampering related to the January 6 Committee.

A Republican-led subcommittee has accused Cheney of secretly communicating with key witness Cassidy Hutchinson through encrypted messaging apps, allegedly bypassing her attorney.

The subcommittee has recommended an FBI investigation, though Cheney has denied the accusations, calling them politically motivated.

Schiff pressed Bondi on whether she believed the claims warranted further investigation. Bondi responded, “Senator, I have not been asked to investigate Liz Cheney. This is purely hypothetical.” She then pivoted to broader issues, criticizing California’s rising crime rates. “The robbery rate in California is 87% higher than the national average. If confirmed as Attorney General, that’s where I’ll focus my efforts—on tackling real issues affecting Americans,” she added.

Bondi Earns Praise from GOP Senators

Bondi’s assertive responses and refusal to be derailed by Schiff’s questions won applause from Republican senators present at the hearing. Her no-nonsense approach, coupled with her ability to redirect the conversation toward pressing national issues, resonated with her supporters.

The hearing underscored Bondi’s combative style and her readiness to challenge critics head-on—qualities her backers believe are essential for the role of Attorney General.
