Search Continues for Savannah Guthrie’s Mother as Authorities Seek Answers
Authorities in Arizona continue to search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, after she was reported missing from her home over the weekend.
Nancy was last seen late Saturday at her residence in the Catalina Foothills area north of Tucson.
When she did not attend church the following morning, friends grew concerned and contacted local authorities, prompting an immediate response.
Since then, local law enforcement, along with search-and-rescue teams, have been working steadily to locate her and understand the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
Ongoing investigation
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said officials are treating the case with care and urgency, noting Nancy’s age and limited physical mobility.
While early information did not point clearly to any single explanation, investigators have since said they are exploring the possibility that someone else may have been involved.
Authorities believe Nancy went to bed Saturday night and was no longer in her home by Sunday morning.
Based on what they know so far, investigators do not think she left the house on her own.
Despite physical challenges, officials emphasized that Nancy is mentally alert, which has guided how search efforts and investigative steps are being handled.

Information being reviewed
Investigators are reviewing nearby security footage and examining evidence from the home as part of their effort to better understand what may have happened.
Officials have not released specific details, saying the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Specialized units have been asked to assist, a step authorities say is standard in cases involving vulnerable individuals and does not reflect a final determination.
Family response
Savannah Guthrie has been away from Today during the search. In a message shared with the program, she thanked the public for the support her family has received and encouraged anyone with information to reach out to authorities.
“Our family is grateful for the kindness and concern people have shown,” she said. “We remain focused on bringing our mom home.”
In a later social media post, Guthrie expressed hope and asked followers to keep her family in their thoughts.
Search efforts continue
Officials say search efforts are ongoing, and they are continuing to follow all available leads. Community members have also offered support as the family waits for updates.
Anyone with information related to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is asked to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
