Stranger’s Amazing Gesture to Fallen Police Officer’s Son
Tanner Brownlee was 15 years old when his dad, Weld County Deputy Sam Brownlee, was killed in the line of duty after a police chase in 2010. This past week, Deputy Brownlee’s old patrol car went on auction to help raise money for organization that provides services for survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Tanner attended the auction, hoping to buy it as a keepsake.
However the car ended up purchased by Steve Wells, a successful rancher, for $60,000. But instead of keeping the Dodge Charger for himself, Wells handed the keys to a stunned Tanner.
An auction became the setting of an emotional gesture when a rancher handed over the keys to a car to a young man he had never met.
