Trump Revokes Biden’s Intelligence Access, Breaking Presidential Tradition

In a rare move, former President Joe Biden has lost access to classified intelligence briefings, a privilege historically extended to past U.S. presidents.

President Donald Trump officially revoked Biden’s security clearance, citing concerns over his ability to handle sensitive information.

Trump announced the decision on Truth Social, stating, “There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information.”

He further referenced Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report, which highlighted concerns about Biden’s memory, reinforcing Trump’s claim that national security must come first.

This decision mirrors Biden’s own actions in 2021, when he blocked Trump from receiving intelligence updates, citing concerns over potential risks.

At the time, Biden questioned the necessity of briefing Trump, suggesting he might “slip and say something.”

While former presidents traditionally retain access to security briefings as a courtesy, this privilege is ultimately at the discretion of the sitting president.

Trump’s move marks a significant break from tradition, reflecting the ongoing political divide and a shift in how intelligence access is handled for past leaders.
