Truth Behind the Viral Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal: What Really Happened?

A seemingly light-hearted moment during Coldplay’s recent Boston concert quickly turned into one of the most talked-about viral events of the year.

As the crowd cheered and the iconic “kiss cam” roamed the stadium, it landed on a man with his arm around a woman.

But instead of smiling for the camera, the man ducked out of view while the woman attempted to cover her face.

Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin commented playfully from the stage:

“Oh, look at these two… either they’re having an affair or they’re just really shy.”

The clip soon went viral, and internet sleuths quickly identified the pair as Andy Byron, CEO of the New York-based tech company Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer.

Speculation exploded online, with many alleging the two were involved in a workplace relationship.

Shortly after the video gained traction, a seemingly heartfelt apology appeared on social media — reportedly written by Byron — in which he apologized to his wife, family, and company team.

The message ended with a Coldplay lyric:

“Lights will guide you home… and I will try to fix you.”

But there was a twist.

The statement wasn’t real. It originated from an X (formerly Twitter) account belonging to a user under the name “Peter Enis,” falsely claiming to be from CBS News.

A community note later confirmed the account was previously marked as a parody and had removed that label to appear credible.

Astronomer officially confirmed to TMZ that the statement was fake.

A follow-up post from the parody account read:

“Thank you to all who made today so funny. I’m glad you all enjoyed the Fix You lyric at the end. I debated on that one… Best, P. Enis.”

While the video continues to circulate online, this serves as another reminder of how quickly misinformation can spread — especially when viral content intersects with public figures and corporate leadership.
