93-year-old Grandpa Wins Storytelling Contest with Hilarious ‘Love Hurts’ Story

‘The Moth’ is a famous open-mic storytelling contest known for being highly competitive and drawing top-quality talent.
One recent newbie — 93-year-old grandfather Tom Sitter — competed for the first time at The Moth competition in Madison, Wisconsin, and ran off with the first-ever perfect 10 for his story about his childhood Valentine’s Day from 1933.
He talked about being ten years old and could only afford to buy only five Valentine’s Day cards — and then having to decide just who to give them to. Tom scored our first ever 10 with his winning story tonight. The memory of the girls he carefully selected to give his five valentines to in 1933 was strong enough that 84 years later he still knew their names.
