High-ranking Social Security Official Resigns Following Inquiries from DOGE Regarding Apparent Significant Social Security Fraud
A senior official at the Social Security Administration has recently resigned amid an ongoing investigation by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) concerning alleged fraud within the agency. Acting commissioner Michelle King stepped down following a dispute with DOGE staff who were seeking access to internal data.
Reports indicate that King clashed with DOGE, spearheaded by Elon Musk, regarding the department’s request to probe an internal data system that reportedly holds sensitive personal information about American citizens. After her resignation, Leland Dudek was appointed as the new acting commissioner, pledging to manage the agency with “openness and transparency.”
Dudek stated, “My initial action as Acting Commissioner was to reach out to our Inspector General’s office to allow them to oversee and assess all agency operations, including my past, present, and future actions. Transparency is essential for effective governance.”
White House Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields mentioned that a career anti-fraud expert from Social Security would temporarily lead the agency. He emphasized, “President Trump is dedicated to selecting the most qualified individuals committed to serving the American public rather than catering to a bureaucracy that has let them down for far too long.”
It remains unclear if DOGE was able to obtain the data they sought from King. However, The American Tribune reported claims made by Musk regarding “significant discrepancies” within the Social Security Administration that have been discovered.
On Monday, Musk took to X, stating, “The logic flow diagram for the Social Security system appears chaotic. No single individual truly understands how it operates. The payment files between Social Security and Treasury reveal major inconsistencies that haven’t been resolved. It’s astonishing.”
Musk commented further on the difficulties related to Social Security data, likening the situation to “unraveling an ancient civilization’s secrets as described by a friend, despite it still being in existence.”
He also shared a screenshot suggesting that millions of Americans aged between 100 and 200 are receiving social security, with approximately 1.5 million reported to be between 150 and 200 years old. Musk pointed out that the implications of this data are concerning, hinting at potential large-scale fraud. He quipped, “According to the Social Security database, these are the counts of individuals in each age category with the death field still set to FALSE! Maybe there’s a reality to Twilight, and a host of vampires are collecting Social Security 😂😂.”
In response to Musk’s findings, one commenter called for an audit, stating, “This is a huge fraud warning sign. Over 20 million ‘individuals’ recorded as 100+ years old in the Social Security database? It’s time for a comprehensive audit. Either we have immortals exploiting the system or severe data integrity problems.” They then proposed, “Immediate legislation should be introduced: Annual verification for Social Security recipients over 100 is necessary. We’re losing billions to fraudulent claims. It’s time to clean up this mess and safeguard taxpayer funds.”
