Joe Biden Responds to Trump’s Investigation Alleging Cognitive Cover-Up
Former President Donald Trump has directed his administration to open a formal investigation into the presidency of Joe Biden, raising concerns about who held executive power during Biden’s time in office.
The move has sparked strong reactions from both political leaders and the public.
🔍 Trump Questions Use of Autopen and Presidential Decision-Making
In a statement released Wednesday, Trump claimed the American public was “purposefully shielded” from knowing who was making executive decisions during the Biden administration.
He alleged that Biden’s use of the autopen — a long-standing tool used by presidents to sign documents when not physically present — may have masked a deeper issue: Biden’s cognitive health.
Trump accused aides of potentially using the device to authorize executive orders on Biden’s behalf, calling it one of the “most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history.”
He further asserted that this resulted in what he described as “radical policy shifts.”
To investigate the matter, Trump issued a memo instructing White House Counsel, in coordination with Attorney General Pam Bondi, to determine whether any officials “conspired to deceive the public” about Biden’s health and potentially acted outside constitutional boundaries.
🗣️ Biden Pushes Back: “I Made the Decisions”
Later the same day, Joe Biden issued a public response, strongly rejecting the claims.
“Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency. I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations,” Biden said in his statement.
“Any suggestion that I didn’t is ridiculous and false.”
Biden went on to say that Trump’s investigation is a distraction from current policy issues, particularly efforts by the Trump administration to extend tax breaks for the wealthy.
🧠 Health and Transparency in Focus
The renewed attention to Biden’s cognitive abilities comes just weeks after he disclosed a prostate cancer diagnosis, which Trump and other critics have pointed to as proof that Biden may not have been transparent about his health while in office.
However, no evidence has been presented showing that Biden failed to perform his presidential duties or that aides acted without his direction.
⚖️ What Happens Next?
The investigation ordered by Trump is expected to examine documentation, communications, and staff involvement from Biden’s time in office. Legal experts say it remains to be seen whether this inquiry will yield evidence of wrongdoing—or become a politically charged effort ahead of the 2024 election cycle.
