Santa Fe Raging Grannies Rework Classic Song Into Viral Protest Performance
At first glance, the eleven women gathered in a Santa Fe living room looked like a traditional choir preparing to perform a well-known classic.
Dressed in their signature style and ready to sing, they gave the impression of a warm, nostalgic performance.
But within moments, it became clear this was something entirely different.
Reimagining a Classic Hit
The group, known as the Santa Fe Raging Grannies, chose to reinterpret the famous song “Hit the Road, Jack,” originally popularized by Ray Charles.
Instead of performing the song as it was written, they introduced new lyrics that reflected their personal views on current social issues.
The result was a performance that blended humor, music, and commentary — a style the Raging Grannies have become known for over the years.
