What Does the “T” in “T-Shirt” Actually Mean?
A child asks a surprisingly simple question: “Why is it called a T-shirt?”
And suddenly, you’re staring at the shirt you’re wearing and realizing you’ve probably never actually thought about it.
The answer is almost ridiculously simple.
Lay a traditional T-shirt flat and look at its outline. The body forms the long vertical part, while the sleeves stretch outward from the sides. Together, the garment resembles a capital “T.”
