Watchdog Group Questions Biden Admin’s Reliance on ‘Autopen’ for Signing Orders

A government watchdog group has raised concerns over the Biden administration’s use of an autopen to sign a majority of executive orders, triggering debates about the authenticity and accountability of critical decisions made during his presidency.

An autopen is an electromechanical device that replicates a person’s signature, often used by high-ranking officials to sign a large volume of documents without direct involvement.

While legally acceptable for some documents, the use of an autopen for important orders and actions has sparked questions regarding transparency.

The Oversight Project, affiliated with the conservative Heritage Foundation, has claimed that all documents featuring Biden’s signature—aside from his reelection withdrawal letter—appear to have been signed using an autopen.

This revelation has raised doubts about the president’s cognitive condition and whether unelected staffers were essentially making decisions on his behalf.

The group emphasized that “whoever controlled the autopen controlled the presidency,” linking the president’s signature to concerns about who was truly steering the country.

The letter announcing Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 election was notably different in its signature, further fueling skepticism.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has called for an investigation into whether Biden’s mental decline was intentionally concealed, allowing staff to issue orders without his consent.

He argued that many of Biden’s last policies could be legally invalid due to potential manipulation of his condition by staffers pushing a left-wing agenda.

Further controversy arose when House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) shared his personal experience with Biden, claiming that the president appeared unaware of signing an executive order to halt LNG exports to Europe.

Johnson, who met with Biden in the Oval Office in early 2024, recounted that Biden had no recollection of the executive action, which was significant due to its implications on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

This encounter raised further doubts about Biden’s control over his administration and whether critical decisions were made by others behind the scenes.

These incidents have ignited concerns among some lawmakers and citizens about the state of leadership and decision-making at the highest levels of government.
