‘Your children could’ve died.’ Police Officer Yells at Mother who Left Kids in Hot Car

The incident took place last Monday after police received multiple calls reporting that two children were unattended and in distress in a car while the alarm went off. Responding to the calls in the parking lot of a grocery store, officers found the kids, a 6-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy.

After investigating, police determined that the woman had been shopping for 20 minutes while her children were left alone. It is unclear how hot it was outside when the women was shopping, but researchers say the temperature inside of a car can increase by 30 degrees within 20 minutes, and the Farmer’s Almanac states that the heat in Vancouver touched 78 degrees that day.

The officer is heard berating the mother who seemed unemotional about the events surrounding her children’s rescue. “You don’t seem to understand the danger you put your children in,” he says to the woman. “The windows were up – it’s hot out. Your children could have died.” He later adds, “You think it’s fine and you wonder why I’m upset?”

The children were reportedly dehydrated and very hot and treated on scene by ambulance but not taken to the hospital. The file has been turned over to the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The mother is not currently facing charges.

This “mother” deserves to be locked in the car to experience what her children went through, and then she should get jail time!
